MARION GARVER, ADVISOR: BIG FLUTES
Marion Garver (b.1968) is a Canadian-American low flutes/Kingma system flutist and teacher. She is a representative of the Kingma Flutes company where she demonstrates the Kingma (quartertone) key system and alto, bass, contr'alto and contrabass flutes for the Dutch maker at conventions worldwide. She attended Grant MacEwan Community College (now Grant MacEwan University) music program (1987-88, 1990-91) and holds degrees from California Institute of the Arts (BFA 1995) and UCSD (MA flute performance 1999). She is an active teacher and performer in San Diego,California. She is the Low flutes advisor for the Flute Club of Calgary and a member at large of the Low Flutes Committee of the National Flute Association. Currently she is gathering contrabass flute pieces for a CD.
JOHN REID, ADVISOR: JAZZ
John Reid is a woodwind doubler from Calgary, Canada and got into jazz flute in 1970 after hearing Herbie Mann, Jethro Tull, Moe Koffman, Hubert Laws, and Roland Kirk. He has played at the Havana Jazz Festival, made three CD's as a leader, and is a past performer in the NFA Jazz Flute Big Band (New Orleans, 2013; Chicago, 2015; San Diego, 2016; Minneapolis, 2017).
